I have never run 17 miles before...

I spent all day Saturday worrying... would I actually be able to do it, run that far and do so without stopping? I was scared that my body would just stop and that I would have to pull out after 14 or15 miles. The furthest I have ever run has been a half marathon, and this wasn't just an extra mile... it was an extra 4 miles!

At 7am the alarm clock went... I forced myself to eat porridge, which is hard when you not hungry, let alone when you're so nervous.

Arriving at the race I met a friendly face, Graham, whom I had been chatting with on Runners World so that enabled me to settle a little. Then we were off... 1 mile, 2, 3, and 4, 8,9,10, and 13...I was into new territory for the very first time! I was also experimenting with Carb Gels, which in my opinion taste like children's medicine! 14, 15...I was doing it and to my elation I found I was doing it well! Making everyone laugh I was singing along to my ipod. 15, 16 miles and I was still feeling on top of the world...Only one mile to go and the only thing that was annoying me was my sweaty toes. It was the end, 17 miles...I had done it, without stopping, unless you include the time when I had to re-tie my shoe at the 8 mile mark.

I had surprised myself and was feeling fabulous. I wanted to shout to the world hey, look at me, I just ran 17 miles! I was on some kind of runner's high for at least the next 48 hours. If that's how I felt after 17 miles I can't even start to imagine the feeling after 26.2. Bring it on...

I will have some exciting ground breaking news to share shortly regarding sponsorship from Amway (UK) Ltd. whom my parents have been associated with for over thirty years and whose Nutrilite products are the world's leading brand of vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements (based on 2006 sales as supported by research conducted by Euromonitor International).

Until next week...
