Lara after The Great West Run Half Marathon

Latest Post: 29/01/09

I have run 26 miles this week. It's surreal to think that in 13 weeks I will be running that distance all in one go.

I am feeling positive, the cold frosty mornings are starting to get a little warmer but it's the rain that is challenging me at the moment.

Today I did the Gade Valley Marathon Training run (12 miles) in Hemel Hempstead, running through Ashridge Forest where the course was mainly country roads and along the grand union canal. It was the first time I have ever run in muddy conditions, and it was absolutely fabulous! 12 miles of puddles, rain, mud and wet feet! The atmosphere was great, thank you to all the marshals who did a wonderful job. It was so well organised I'm going to go back next month to do the 17 mile run.

I have started to cut back on some of my other gym based activities so I can focus more on running. I will still have my cross training days as I love Body Combat and have added pilates, yoga and flexi bar to compliment my training plan.

This week I'm going to finalise my training plan and decide which races I'm going to enter. I'm also reviewing my nutrition to make sure my body is getting the correct nourishment.
