BRITISH 50k CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ronnie Richmond of Bideford Ac took the British 50km title up in Scotland this weekend and in the process set a British Record in the process... Inaugural Exmouth 5k a success.
Charlie Wright, Exeter Uni and Alice Murray-Gourlay, Taunton AC claimed victory in the men’s and women’s categories. Wright’s impressive 15:52 and Murray-Gourlay’s swift 17:39 showcased the quick course. We managed to clear sand from previous days high winds and on the night weather conditions proved favourable for runners, contributing to the overall success of the event. Oh My Obelisk

Valencia 10k
There was a world record recorded in the ladies races on Sunday - Kenya's Agnes Ngetich obliterated the women's world 10km record by running 28:46!!! We spotted local speedster Jake Smith clocked a solid 29.22, another good step forward on his return from injury and illness.

Halt the Proposed Closure of Yeovil Recreation Centre's Sports and Leisure Facilities
For over 50 years, the Yeovil Olympiads Athletic Club has called the Bill Whistlecroft Athletics Arena at Yeovil Rec home. This facility, along with other sports and leisure amenities at the Yeovil Recreation Centre, are under threat due to a proposed closure by Somerset Council, to save costs. These facilities are not just local assets; they hold regional importance across the South West as they represent the only public facility of its kind and quality in Somerset…. more

A sell out for SWRR’s popular Exeter 10k with 700 entries, Tavistock Ac’s Ben Neale taking the win in the mens race with a time of 31.58 and Alice Kelly taking the ladies win in a time of 36.15

Local international Jake Smith continues his impressive return to fitness following injury and illness with a speedy 3km indoors at the British Milers Club meet in Sheffield, he clocked a 8.12.34. The 2024 season is looking bright for Jake!
