Junior & Under-18 Participant Addendum
City Runs – Junior & Under-18 Participant Addendum
This Junior & Under-18 Participant Addendum (“Addendum”) applies to all participants under the age of 18 (“Junior Participants”) entering any City Runs event.
This Addendum forms part of the City Runs Terms & Conditions of Entry and must be accepted by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of the Junior Participant.
1. Parental / Guardian Consent
All Junior Participants must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to take part.
By entering a Junior Participant, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they:
Are legally responsible for the Junior Participant; and
Have authority to accept the Terms & Conditions and this Addendum on their behalf.
City Runs reserves the right to request proof of parental or guardian consent and to refuse entry where such consent has not been provided.
2. Age Limits & Eligibility
Junior Participants must meet the minimum and maximum age requirements specified for the event or race distance.
Age eligibility is determined by the Junior Participant’s age on event day, unless otherwise stated.
Age limits and maximum distances are set in accordance with UK Athletics Rules for Competition.
City Runs reserves the right to amend race distances or participation criteria in line with governing body guidance.
3. Responsibility & Supervision
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for ensuring that Junior Participants:
Are medically fit and adequately prepared to take part;
Understand and follow event rules and instructions;
Behave in a safe, respectful and sportsmanlike manner.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, parents or guardians are not permitted to accompany Junior Participants on the course.
City Runs does not provide individual supervision of Junior Participants before or after the event. Responsibility for supervision remains with the parent or guardian outside of the organised race itself.
4. Medical Information & Emergency Treatment
Parents or guardians must provide accurate and complete medical information for the Junior Participant at the time of entry.
Any relevant medical conditions must be disclosed to the organisers in advance of the event.
In the event of illness or injury, City Runs and its appointed medical staff are authorised to:
Provide basic first aid; and
Seek emergency medical treatment where considered necessary.
Parents or guardians accept that, in emergency situations, decisions may need to be taken in the best interests of the Junior Participant.
5. Assumption of Risk
Participation in running events involves inherent risks.
By entering a Junior Participant, the parent or legal guardian acknowledges and accepts these risks on behalf of the Junior Participant.
Nothing in this Addendum excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
6. Photography, Filming & Media (Juniors)
Junior Participants may be photographed or filmed during the event.
By entering a Junior Participant, the parent or legal guardian grants permission for City Runs to use images or recordings for event promotion, reporting and marketing purposes, including online and social media.
If consent is not given, this must be notified to City Runs in writing prior to the event.
7. Data Protection (Juniors)
Personal data relating to Junior Participants will be processed in accordance with the City Runs Privacy Policy.
8. Safeguarding
City Runs is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for Junior Participants.
Any safeguarding concerns should be reported immediately to event staff.
City Runs reserves the right to remove a Junior Participant from an event where there are concerns for their safety or wellbeing.
9. Breach & Exclusion
City Runs reserves the right to exclude a Junior Participant (and, where appropriate, their parent or guardian) from the event or future events if this Addendum or the Terms & Conditions are breached, or where behaviour is unsafe or inappropriate.
