NEW FOR 2026 - TIMING CHIPS: We are using hand-held timing chips this year. Each runner must carry the timing chip strap/band in their hand during their section of the race. At each changeover, the outgoing runner must pass the timing chip to the next runner after crossing the timing mat.It is the runner’s responsibility to ensure the timing chip is correctly passed on. If the chip is not transferred correctly, your result may not be recorded and you may not appear in the results.

CAR PARKING: Please note parking at the Race Hq ( EX4 1EG ) is VERY limited and will be done on a first come first served basis - there will not be enough space for everyone. Please note there is a height restriction barrier on entrance to car park - 2.1meter / 6"10. There is on street parking available on surrounding roads and also a pay and display car park. CRICKET: There will be junior cricket taking place on the playing field next to the start/finish area. Please be aware and respectful at all times. Do not cross the cricket pitches — please go around them.

- Race HQ: The race HQ will be the changing rooms at Flowerpots, Exwick Playing Fields (Post Code EX4 1EG)
- Route: The race route will follow a out and back course, which will be approximately 4km. Each runner will run once route once. The profile of route will be flat and it will all be on road using shared foot and cycle path.
- Change Overs: It is runners responsibility to ensure they are ready for their change over, our officials will seek to assist but ultimately it the competitors responsibility to be ready and in the appropriate change over zone when incoming runners finishes.
- Team Make Up: We will accept team entries from both running club teams and also scratch teams - so your welcome to enter as a bunch of mates or a business team etc! The make up can be single sex or mixed.
- Team Amends: Amends to teams can be made up until the close of play on Wednesday 4th August. After this time we will only make emergency amends...so no sneaky tactical changes :-)
- Car Parking: We advise parking at Exwick Playing Fields Car Park - the one we use for our 5k's! Parking here is limited so please car share where possible, parking will be on a first come first served basis. There is on street parking available on surrounding roads.
- Entry & Race Limit: 100 Teams - first come first served.
- Entry Fees: Adult Team (over 17)- All runners England Athletics competition license holder = £54 (£13.50 per runner) Adult Team (over 17) - Unattached Team = £62 (£15.50 per runner) Junior Team (Under 17) - All runner England Athletics competition license holder = £32 (£8.00 per runner) Junior Team (Under 17) - Unattached Team = £36 (£9.00 per runner)
- Minimum Age: 11 years
- Numbers: Numbers will be issued on the day to teams - they should be collected by the nominated team leader. Numbers will display a team number and a letter - this represents the leg order: A = 1st Leg B = 2nd Leg C = 3rd Leg D = 4th Leg
- Toilets: Will be available at EXWICK SPORTS HUB
- First Aid: This will be provided by Devon EMS
- Prizes & Scoring: Team age cat for a teams will be based on the youngest member of the team - except for junior runners. Final prize structure will be based on final entry of teams.
- Prize Giving: We will try and award first past the post men's, ladies and mixed teams on the night. The remaining prizes will be sent out the week after. As this is this is the first time we have organised relays we want to make sure we get positions & times correct.
- Memento / Rewards: Each team will be sent a personalised team certificate, which will include individual times/position. This will be emailed out after the event.

*To ensure we get things right we will not award medals on the night, they will be posted out the week afterwards. We hope to award the trophies for 1st Men, Lady and Mixed teams on the night.

TEAM TYPE CLASSFICATION:‍ ‍
Athletics / Running Club or Formal Running Group / Triathlon Club or Team - any team we consider ALL runners to be part of a 'formal' running (or Tri) club/group.
Scratch/Fun Team - are any team other than above, this team may include a runner who is part affiliated to club or group - please note we very much promote this as a fun category.
*We reserve the right to make a judgement call in the spirit of the event and amend team type classification if we deem necessary.
Age Categories (Affiliated Teams Only)
Age categories are determined by the youngest team member.
- Under 16
- 17–39
- 40–49
- 50–59
- 60–69
- 70+
How it works:
Teams are placed into an age category based on the youngest runner in the team.
- Example: A team aged 40, 50, 60, and 70 will be classified as a 40–49 team.
Exception – Junior Runners:
If a team includes an Under 16 (junior) runner, the team will instead be placed into the senior (17–39) category, not the U16 category.
- Example: A team aged 15, 25, 45, and 55 will be classified as a 17–39 team.
Non-Scoring Teams
- Teams that do not meet category requirements (e.g. incorrect gender split) are welcome to participate.
- These teams will appear in the results but will be non-scoring and not eligible for prizes.
- You can enter a team of mixed ages, we will assign you to the age cat based on the youngest person in the team, unless they are a junior then the team will default to a senior team.
- If a team is short then a team member may run 2 legs - in the spirit of things we'd prefer this to be done only if absolutely necessary.
- Somebody may run for two different teams as long as they are in different team category.
- Second claim club members can run as long as their first claim club is not taking part.
- Specific to Relays:
- Failure to enter a runner(s) that are eligible for that category - team will either be moved to correct category if available or downgraded to a non-scoring team
- Runners deemed to have gone early by the change over judge will be given a minimum time penalty of 20 seconds - this could be more or result in a DQ.
