Hot Weather Update (as of 8 July 2026)
We are continuing to monitor the forecast closely and are working with our Event Medical Director to assess conditions and determine any additional measures required.
Current plans (as of 8 July 2026) are:
Four water station opportunities during the race should our hot weather plan be implemented.
Water Misting station provided by medical team where possible.
Water for every finisher at the finish line.
A shaded medical tent/recovery area at the finish with chilled water available.
A pre-race email to all entrants with guidance on hydration, pacing and racing safely in the expected conditions.
The option to delay the Saturday race start if this is considered beneficial based on the latest forecast.
A compact 3km course footprint, allowing frequent marshal coverage, rapid access to runners and shorter emergency response times if required.
Option for runners to shorten their run and only do one lap, can still collect medal.
These measures will be reviewed as the forecast develops and may be updated if required.
While we will take all reasonable and proportionate steps to help runners stay safe, every participant should make their own assessment of the conditions on the day. If you are unwell, not adequately hydrated, or have any concerns about your ability to race safely in the expected conditions, please consider whether taking part is the right decision for you.
Our priority is to deliver a safe, enjoyable event for everyone.
Hot weather race advice
In the event of hot weather it is very important that you adjust your plans for race day.
1. Adapt your goal according to the conditions. Slow your planned pace. If you were planning to run in fancy dress, please think carefully whether that is still appropriate in the conditions.
2. Listen to your body. If you feel thirsty, drink water. If you feel overly tired, slow down. If you feel unwell in any way, visit one of the aid stations on the course.
3. Wear the appropriate clothing. This should ideally be lightweight moisture management clothing designed for use in warmer conditions (but remember that new clothing can chafe if it hasn’t been worn and washed).
4. Drink according to your thirst. There is water stations available on the route a
5. Drink, Douse, Drain, Drop. When you take water, Drink if you feel thirsty. Douse your head and the back of your neck with the remaining water. If you don’t need all the water, check if your fellow runners would like it to douse themselves.

You can insure your entry via Protect Group when you enter the race - If you have selected Refundable Terms on your booking and are unable to attend your booking due to unforeseen circumstances outside of your control you may be entitled to a refund - please see full set of Refundable Terms and Conditions here. To apply for a refund, please find the instructions on how to apply in the Refundable Terms and Conditions here.booking confirmation email you received after payment.
